after Avcon....

Awaking Monday, I drowsily recall the chaos the of last 3 days. Almost instantaneously, the memories come flooding back, as vivid and surreal as an animation or video game...

In simpler terms... Avcon 2012 was AWESOME!!

I didn't even have to leave my table to take in all the amazing characters, both costumed or not, that were at the convention! It was exciting to see how people reacted to my work, and I loved being surrounded by gorgeous works done my fellow artists. Here's my Artist Alley Table early Saturday morning, before the hoards of con-goers stampeded through the foyer. I'll try and post some more photos later!

Thanks a million to everyone who bought a badge, sticker, print, poster or sketch from me! Also a big thank you to Rosie; the artist alley coordinator!

If anyone has a character suggestions for a badge and sticker, let me know for 2013!

By the way, here is the original print I teased you guys with on last post...

Prints, prints prints!

Only under 3 days till Avcon starts! I thought I'd leave you with a teaser of my latest print.

Fresh off the press, or well, outta' the printer. You're gonna have to visit my stall (#01!) to see all of it ;)

Here are some quick snaps of sketches from today, messed around in PS a bit as always. The first was done @ Chocolate Bean Cafe on Union Street, the next couple done at some food court in Rundle Mall.

The rest were done on the train home. As weird as it's sounds, I've missed sketching on the Adelaide Metro, it gave me time to just observe all the characters of Adelaide.

(kinda cool how the flip-side of the page looks burnt through huh?)

War Memorial Sketches

Here's a follow up to my ski holiday post, some drawings done at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on our final day. I'm developing a fondness for grungy pencil scans...

The massive mosaics and stained glass in The Hall of Memory (the domed building in the photo above) in particular left us all awestruck. I would've loved to have spent longer sketching and looking around, but we had to rush off to the airport to catch our flight home!

Where to go for snow in Australia?

For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, yes, it snows in Australia! I just got back from a holiday at Thredbo ski resort. It was my first time snowboarding, and am eager to go try it again soon, hopefully at China Peak in California this December!
Here are a few sketches from the trip. Many were done with a mini mechanical pencil; a nice break from the usual uniball pen, but I did however, conveniently lose my only eraser!  Many are quickly colored with watercolors, Tombow markers, digitally or a mix of em' all.

Here are various ski folks drawn from memory...

....and some observational ones, the first three from the T-bar restaurant.

Here's some photos just for interest....

Stay tuned for a follow-up post of our last day!
