Accepted into Calarts!

I found out this morning I've been accepted into the Character Animation Program at Calarts for this fall! In the meanwhile, I'll still be studying a BA at Adelaide University; Philosophy, Psychology, and all that fun stuff.

I thought I'd share one of the pages I included in my portfolio, a collage of sketches I drew at the beach. Done straight in pen as always, with some watercolor and ink splashed on.

I'll wrap up this post with a corny yet suitably optimistic final world, that the real journey begins here!

EDIT: (after semester 1) Ok..because this post gets an outrageous amount of views on a daily basis,  Not trying to preach or anything, but I'll just say...just get drawing!

 By this I also mean.....
Observe everything. (capture the world around you and interpret it your own way.)

Be open to new things. In life and art techniques/mediums/styles  (don't use the "it isn't my style" excuse....ugh.)

Tell stories, make characters and aim to evoke strong emotions with your art.

Also...just be prepared for when you do get in, cause more important than having some skills to get accepted, is having complete dedication to your work, which is vital to growing as an artist, and as a person for that matter. So work hard. Their ain't no easy shortcuts, but best of luck to all hopefuls~
